I was looking very much forward to the release of the Indie Fonts. But after I took a gander at the list of fonts included my enthusiasm died. Not only are most of the font provided in CD already available they were also free at each of the vendors sites. Now I may have set my expectations a little high for getting some free type but I am not going to spend money on type I already have. I figured that this book would have been a greater opportunity for some of these foundries to let go of a font that doen't sell (i.e. Comicraft does this with it's newsletter subribers), or maybe even make a free one (i.e. Blambot releases a free font the first of every month). But alas, nothing of the sort. While I agree with the publishers and participants that printed matter is the best way to view type designs, this book still seems a bit much for so little in return.
